Young Obesity

And the Ignored Epidemic

When I was a Lifeguard at Stanley, I was supervising the small pool during a School Activity Session, and what I witnessed that day changed my entire perspective on how URGENT people need to be about taking responsibility for their own health!

. . . kids, 8-10 years old obese - I was talking to the teacher and was concerned, because as Lifeguards we have to be made aware of anything that could effect their safety and health in the pool, and the activities supervisor told me a couple of the obese kids had heart conditions - AT TEN YEARS OLD! WTF?!

This was alarming, and once more, the Obese Epidemic is continuing to rise, just look around the Asda, or the Sainsburys, or any supermarket the next time you’re out and you message me back and tell me how many people out of three are obese or overweight!

Take a look at these statistics and projected statistics - SN03336.pdf (parliament.uk).

We’re all so fixed on the fucking internet that we have forgotten about the actual things right in front of our faces, and people will get mad when I say this, but have you ever noticed that some of the parents are actually to blame?

The saying ‘Lead by example’ exists for a reason. Thankfully, I think this audience knows their shit. However, if you see someone you know who is suffering from this, or who’s kids benefit from this, then make them aware (politely and supportively) because that’s true friendship.

Thanks for reading, and if you found this message useful or if you think this will help someone, please share it!
