THE WHOLISTIC APPROACH TO FITNESS

A COMPARISON TO THE WHOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH

Hi everyone!

I wanted to talk to you today, about the ‘Wholistic Approach to Fitness’ - ‘what does this mean Brad?’

The wholistic approach to fitness is almost identical to the ‘Wholistic Approach to Health’, because it encompasses the same elements:

  1. Sleep/Rest/Recovery

  2. Food/Calories/Nutrients

  3. Hydration

  4. Mobility/Flexibility

  5. Hard Work/Planning

The wholistic approach to fitness also requires you to plan out, in this instance, for the year (if you take it seriously). Emphasizing sleep and prehab/rehab exercises when you’re in your recovery mesocycle (for example).

However, there is just one thing that’s missing that I believe people overlook when they plan to improve their fitness (and health!), and that is ‘Eustress’!

‘Bradley, wtf is Eustress?’ Eustress is seen as ‘positive stress’ where you work hard towards a goal that has positive outcomes, on a larger scale, and can usually involves helping others - this is why people run and swim long distance for charities!

Granted, when it comes to the wholistic approach to fitness, there is usually more emphasis on tracking your calories and accurately calculating your macros, however, the elements re similar to those of health:

Final Notes: Make sure you incorporate ‘Wholistic Nutrition’ into your fitness plans, if you want to improve both; and increase your water intake as your exercise demands increase!
