My Pure Gym Experience . . .
And some of the Craziest Workouts!
My 2 years at Pure Gym Sunderland harbours very fond memories. I met so many helpful and interesting people, and learned a lot about how the PT industry operates; about people; and about myself. I found both, strengths and weaknesses that I was unaware existed.
I had some amazing and “somewhat” unorthodox workouts there, some of which were past midnight. I met a few good friends there and we helped each other with our workouts, a lot of which were incredibly dynamic and enjoyable.
However, one of the reasons we participated in this ‘11pm till (sometimes) 2am sessions was actually because a) we had respect for the gym members and staff, and b) because our sessions required a lot of space and equipment.
We laid out obstacle courses that resembled Ninja Warrior UK, because, at that time, I was looking to participate in Ninja Warrior, and get back into Martial Arts.
We spent a bitta time setting up obstacle courses and rehearsing through them, man it was SO MUCH FUN!!!! After which, we set all of the equipment away, and then brought out the “crash” mats so we could practice our kata and throws on each other. We also got one of my colleagues to video some of these sessions, albeit, much earlier, because he wasn’t going to stay up till 2am!
Prior to this, I used to set up mini obstacle courses during the day to practice my swinging and landing techniques. These obstacles actually inspired some gym members (aka. my buddy) to practice as well, and some of these sessions we would practice the stepping platform obstacle that was at the beginning on Ninja Warrior.
Thanks for your time everyone! Until next time!
