PERIODIZATION IN DETAIL

INGRAINED ARE THE PRINCIPLES OF NATUROPATHY INTO THE FITNESS PLAN (PART IV)

Hi everyone!

Welcome to ‘PART IV’!

In the last article (PART III), I showed you how to structure and incorporate the principles of fitness into your fitness mesocycles.

In this segment, I am going to show you how to incorporate those naturopathic principles into your fitness macrocycle.

  • Polymerization of Fitness & Health - An Illustration.

  • What the ‘12 Bad Foods’ are.

  • The 90 Essential Nutrients.

  • How to incorperate the principles of a healthy lifestyle into your plan.

The Principles of Naturopathic Medicine take time, more specifically, a minimum of 60-90 days to notice some benefit of the nutritional part of the programme, especially if you’re exercising!

Remember, our bodies break down at a much faster rate than what they would if we were just sitting at home or in the office; and it’s a small price to pay when you consider how many years we’ve unknowingly been damaging our bodies with bad habits and bad food.

‘Break It Down’

That being said, I’m going to get straight into the main “body” of this article by showing you the ‘breakdown’ in an early article:

Now, some extra sauce’ . . .

You’ve probably noticed that sleep is missing from the final two mesocycles? That’s mainly because although sleep is still important, it is not emphasized as much in the final two mesocycles - at that point, the habit should’ve already been developed and ingrained in your routine.

To take this a step further, the ‘12 bad foods’ are foods that you should be aware of because they are carcinogenic and pro-inflammatory in nature. They cause harm to the digestive tract.

These bad foods are important to keep in mind when cleaning up your diet, so you can absorb the nutrition that you consume through food and supplements.

Just like your skin has the ability to grow back, so does too, your intestinal villi residing in your small intestine - this important organ is vital for absorbing nutrients into the blood stream!

The 12 bad foods are:

  1. Wheat - harm digestion

  2. Barley - harm digestion

  3. Rye - harm digestion

  4. Oats - harm digestion

  5. Fried food - pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic

  6. Oil in a bottle - pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic

  7. Carbonated drinks - supress stomach acid (thus harm your digestion)

  8. Nitrates/nitrites in meat - pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic

  9. Well-done red meat - pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic

  10. Skins of baked potatoes, yams and sweet potatoes (when crispy) - pro-inflammatory

  11. Soy - pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic; and directly harms (mutates) your DNA. Also 95% of soy products globally are GMO.

  12. Corn - Pro-inflammatory, and GMO.

Vitamins, Minerals, And Performance

Adhering to principle 3 of Naturopathy: ‘At first, do no harm’, this nutritional programme is designed to help your body’s energy levels by giving it the raw materials that it needs:

60 minerals

16 vitamins

12 amino acids

and 2-3 essential fatty acids (EFA’s).

These raw materials are responsible for so many processes in the human body, including making new proteins, maintaining water balance, replenishing and differentiating cells, and antioxidant protection.

To incorporate this information in your plan:

  1. Use a food diary and record your symptom 24, 48, and 72 hours after you have consumed individual foods - especially if you are going on an elimination diet to find which foods you may be allergic too. Do this daily.

  2. Use the chart above to guide you on which recovery methods to use in each of the fitness mesocycles.

  3. Be PERSISTENT!

  4. Listen to your body and make the necessary changes, if needs be.

  5. Use this in harmony with your Fitness Plan.

Now, because you guys have been with me for a long time, and shown your faith, loyalty and commitment, I have something special for you . . .
