No Cookies? No Problem!

Climb!

I once knew a guy who was so passionate about the vegan lifestyle that he found it difficult to prevent that passion from spilling out into the ether. Sometimes people found him difficult to the point that it would frustrate them, and I could relate, because back then, I was one of those passionate people without restraint, and it does come back to bite you. However, this particular person was kind, friendly, and did try to help people, but the only problem was that he was blinded by his passion and tried so hard to convince people veganism was the healthiest way of life, but not many people believed him, because when they observed his eating pattern and looked at his skin they knew straight away he was not healthy. This guy had spots all over his skin, and didn't have the energy as some of the others did. He never practiced what he preached, because what he preached was a perfect image of health through veganism, but he did not fit that image. I'm not saying veganism is wrong, what I am saying is that 1) Practice what you preach, and 2) There is a right way and a wrong way of doing something.

For example, if you are trying to convince people that a certain dietary pattern or lifestyle is healthy then you MUST doing EVERYTHING you can to make sure YOU are a HEALTHY PERSON. If you don't look the spitting image of the potrait you speak of, then how can you possibly convince others that it's healthy? You just can't. Everybody wants the shiny apple at the top of the tree but nobody wants to climb it.

With health in particular, it's hard to maitain, because of a lot of propaganda that's filled our televisions, social media, and sometimes, books! It's no wonder people have a hard time sticking to that 'one thing'. We like the 'dopamine effect' when people give us things instantly, an yet, in terms of human health, there is no "quick fix" and no impatient strategy that's going to give us what we want, and there's certainly no person eating a full pack of vegan "sugar free" cookies going to convince us that it's "healthy".

And this is the problem, ...

… so what’s the solution? …

Well, you first must realise that in health and fitness there are no quick fixes. Do you think that becoming overweight or having blood sugar, or joint problems came over night and just “suddenly happened”? Of course not! People make bad choices with food, and exercise choices on a DAILY BASIS sometimes for years and years, and then they ask, ‘oh how did I get this way? I wasn’t always like this’. BUT, the point is THEY WERE ALWAYS LIKE THIS! They don’t think about the rammifications of their food and exercise choices LONG-TERM. Don’t you see? What you put in your body, consistently now, WILL affect you in the future, YOU are becoming that person - your future self - with the ACTIONS you are habituating now!

And the way to fix this is, by forming a ROUTINE based around the person you WANT to become, and want I want you to do is this:

  1. Picture in your mind a clear image of the person you want to be!

  2. Cut out an image of the type of body you want, or the car you want or whatever it is you want and stick it on your fridge, your wall, a place in the house where you normally go to every day, and look at it to remind you!

  3. Allow it to drive you!

  4. look at that picture of the person you want to become, or the thing you want and then look around your house and ask yourself one question: ‘Does this match?’ (most of the time it does NOT)

  5. Look at what other people have done to get where you want to be and learn from them, and if you don’t have a role model, then FIND ONE!

  6. Take notes from the people whom have gotten where YOU want to be.

  7. Write down the measurements or steps you need to take every day, and START NOW!

It starts with your mindset, and I agree that the word ‘mindset’ has lost a bit of its’ true meaning because it feels like it’s been used so many bluddy times, but it needs to start HERE.

Remember that everyone reaches a point where you’ve had enough, but by then you might have caused more damage than you’d like to believe, I’ve seen this in clients!

Thanks So Much For Reading!

Take Care,

Brad
