The Experience . . .
The Sun, The Wind on Your Face, The Autumn Breeze that’s crisp and cool.
You’re gazing out at Ocean reflecting the Sun Set grasping the hands of your loved ones,
Wondering if this moment will last forever . . .
The Spirit . . .
There’s something both fulfilling and spiritual about exercising outdoors,
You cannot describe it when you’re caught in the moment.
Whether you’re alone, or with a loved one, there are moments when running, you experience moments of clarity.
The Ocean has the same impact.
You feel a sense of freedom looking out across the ocean to the Sun Set, gaining a moment of peace and clarity. . .
Would you beg for it to last?
Competing Outdoors!
Competing can also give you moments of clarity . . .
Your family, your friends cheering you on. The feeling of truly being supported in your dreams, your adventure, is something that ought to be experienced.
It’s something that I’ve experienced in a Cross-Country event for my Secondary School back in 2007.
I remember my teachers and class mates standing at the brow of one of the hills, looking down towards me chanting, ‘Go On! Keep Going! You’re almost there, Go On!’
It was a feeling of competition, of comradery, of triumph. I was like, ‘F*** yeah I want this!’
It was such a beautiful day too! The chill of the cool crisp air on my arms, and the heat of the sun beating down on my neck.
Did it help? Did the cheering, and feeling of adrenaline-infused camaraderie from my class mates and teachers do the trick?
Well, it’s worth noting here that I came 3rd in a race filled with more than a hundred people . . .so, yeah, damn straight it worked! (psst. I also have, or had rather, crazy cardiovascular endurance back then).
Why does this matter?
If you can show your family these experiences, and even better, share these experiences with your family, then they will realise the importance of all of it.
The experience, the health benefits, your passion toward your health and, toward them.
In return, they will want to take part in what you’re doing; either through taking part, or even just cheering you on with the kids and pets from the side lines, as my teachers and class mates did during that Cross-Country event.
Fitness For The Family
Do this for your family . . .
Set aside time each day, or twice per week f you’re pushed for time, and get them together in a circle in your most spacious room in the entire home.
Explain what you’re doing and why it’s good for you and for them.
Then perform the following exercises with them:
Bodyweight Squats, Or Supported Squats
Push-Up, Or Push-Ups on your knees
Sit-Ups
Torso Rotations
Shoulder Circles
Arm Circles
Standing Knee Raises
Standing Side Leg Raises
Standing Front Leg Raises
The reps and sets are up to you. The important thing is that you guys do hese activities and exercises together.
Set The Example! Inspire Others! Allow Them To Join In And See What It’s About!
