Five Steps To Heaven……

-ly Nourishment: How Humpty Dumpty Rolled Off The Mountain With Our Blumin’ Minerals!

I’m about to free-write about free-writing about … er, nutrition! That’s right! You see, nutrition is becoming a lose term, I think, in some peoples’ eyes, because it has been talked about in so many different tones and contexts that people don’t seem to take the word ‘Nutrition’ seriously, at least not as much as they used to ten or so years ago. The word has been abused, spoken out of context, and been so repetitive by the media, fitness companies, and by medical professionals - even by those who don’t really understand what the term truly implies for human health long-term. Well, I’m about to share with you what it truly means, so take off your hats, kick up your feet, and grab a coffee! Let us delve into it’s true meaning!

At the turn of the industrial revolution something happened, something that would change the way we cook, prepare and consume foods FOREVER! We stopped cooking on wooden stoves and starting using electric stoves, microwaves and other methods of cooking such as frying. Yes, it became very convenient for us humans, but for our convenience we had to trade our NUTRIENTS! Let me explain,… when people cooked on wooden stoves the carbon burnt in the wood and left over wood ashes. Now, you may be thinking ‘well, wood ashes, what has that, if anything, to do with health? It doesn’t make sense’, and I hear you, but what the wood ashes actually were, were minerals leftover from the carbon burnt away after cooking, and as a cultural habit, they put the wood ashes left over in their gardens as fertilizer. When they did this, they were unknowingly putting minerals back into their food.

This went away in 1940, because Mr. Thomas Edison had his electrician turn on the switch for the first powerplant, and as good as technology is, it became very difficult for us to get our minerals from foods because we no longer fed them to our gardens through wood ashes. And remember, we need 90 ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS; these are minerals such as Boron and Strontium used for bone and joint health (Jacobsen and Jonsen, 1975; Steadman, Brudevold, and Smith, 1958; Kolodziejska, Stepien et al, 2021) , these are minerals such as selenium, which is needed for the health of your immune system to fight off foreign invaders (Wallach, Lan, & Schrauzer, 2014). And granted, it’s a much faster way to cook food by banging it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, but is the quality of food jeprodized? Absolutely! Since the turn of the indutrial revolution the mineral and vitman content in our food have gone way down, which is why the food has to be tinkered with to preserve it and perhaps, enhance its flavour through “additions” (Kaul and Belpathal, 2017; Ren, Guo, Zhang et al, 2018).

This takes me to my next point…

As well as cultural changes from the industrial revolution, we also have modern farming methods, which when you think about it, kinda intertwine, because of the increased use and convenience opf technology. Farmers will spray herbicides, insecticides and pesticides onto the food, and while this may protect the crops from bugs, it depletes the mineral content of our food (Wallach and Lan, 1998; Tang, Lenzen et al, 2021; Isaac, 2023).

The industrial revolution, modern farming methods, AND building damns are what cause the depletion of minerals in our soil, collectively. Why did building damns do this to us? We get our minerals from the mountains when rain water and natural flooding occurred, because the water from rain, etc., washed the minerals from the mountains down into our soils - this does not happen if you block the “path way” for the minerals!

So what does this mean for your health?

MALNOURISHMENT… You have many people depleted with minerals who aren’t even aware they are, add to the fact that our digestive tracts are compromised through consumption of the 12 BAD FOODS, stress from work, and all of this other stuff going on, so much so that it distracts them from looking after THEMSELVEs, and they’re not paying attention to their own health; always feeling rushed and never giving a second thought to HOW it effects their bodies. Well it’s time to take a stand people!

Pay attention to your own health, and the BEST part is it doesn’t take as much time as you think, and I think this is where people trip up. You think you all have to do it in a day, and that’s just not true. What’s also false is the fact that you all think it takes an hour sometimes more, NO. These are things that you can do slowly, gradually, and at a minimalist level …

  1. food diary (electronic or paper - I prefer paper because of the bluelight damage to your eyes)

  2. Simple food substitutions, e.g.? Higher protein over carbs (carbs are what decreases your glucose tolerance over time)

  3. Eat more veg

  4. Drink more water (filtered preferably, because it extracts the chemicals out)

  5. Improve sleep quality.

Can YOU do those things? I’m confident you can! These are simple things you can do to make yourself into a positive and STRONG example for your family!

ACTION comes BEFORE belief!
