'Doctor, Humans Aren't Legos!'
Pain: The Panishment of Food
Doctor, Doctor, I have chest pains! Help me!
Ten, maybe eleven years ago, I ate very poorly, and although I exercised regulary (with a surprising amount of endurance), I begun to get the odd bunch of shooting pains up my arms, and at that time I was tenaciously stubborn. Stubborn to the point of ‘aaa, it’ll go’; which it did, but then it returned with avengance!
. . . You ever been to the doctor and explained your problem thoroughly, but then they replied with, ‘I think you should see a specialist’, ‘here’s some medication to help manage the pain’, or ‘I think you drink too much milk’? These are the types of responses that you can expect, and sadly, they’re the types of responses you will get more often than not.
Medical doctors aren’t really trained in nutrition to the depth and understanding that is required to help us “patients” heal. They’ll say, ‘oh, I’ve had extensive training in nutrition’, or ‘when I studied at Cambridge University we did a lot on nutrition’, when in reality, what they class as “s lot”, is barely scratching the surface. They aren’t taught that the body needs 90 essential nutrients, because each one of them works in synergy; they aren’t taught that you need this nutrition per 100lbs of your bodyweight’ they aren’t taught through a philosophy of wholism - in fact they’re taught through a philosophy of reductionism which is the complete opposite! Wholistic medicine (Naturopathy, Ayruvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Chiropractic Medicine, among others), operates on a philosophy that teaches ‘the body has a soul', and the body ‘works in harmony’. Reductionistic medicine is based on the misguided belief that the body operates without a soul’, and that ‘the body works as separate parts’ - which is why they throw medication at a part, or an organ, in the hope that it will help.
. . . This became more evident to me when I started having symptoms related to chest pains and shooting pains up my arms. Before it worsened, I went to my local GP and after I explained to him what happened he said, and I quote, “I think you could be drinking too much milk”. Allas, this didn’t really help me at all! In fact, all it did was make me more frustrated!
. . . When you go to the doctor you expect them to “know everything” so they can help you get better, but the more I looked into this topic the more I realised that we had been propegated into a flase belief that the MD’s are the “go-to” for everything. Now when you’re a child this type of thinking gives you comfort (I agree), but if you look at that type of medicine as a whole, it hasn’t really had the most consistent track record, I’m sorry, that’s just the truth. Look at how many people they’ve helped manage their symptoms, compared to how many people they’ve actually helped reverse their symptoms - the difference is night and day!
It is my belief that they are - whether they are aware of it or not - owned by the pharmaceutical companies. They might be the most kindest well-intended human being that god ever created, but what they’ve been trained in doesn’t work for the human body, not really. Management is NOT cure! And then they try and nurture that idea, ‘oh, you’ll be fine, just take this twice a day and rest’. When in reality, the body needs a plethera of nutrition and therapeutics to fully recover from any ailments, because the human body is more complex and needs a synergistic approach. For example, your immune system needs protein (in paritcular, animal, or whey, which is derived from milk), but it needs protein together with selenium, copper and zinc, why? Because selenium needs copper and zinc, and vitamin C, vitamin D, iron, and iodine, to work properly, so your body can function optimally.
. . . Triggered by a fucking cheese & onion hotpot of all things, my chest pains became severe! Coupled with shooting pains up both my arms, I was bedbound by excrutiating pain! My mam was so worried about me she was crying and confused, because she didn’t know what was wrong either. How can you explain something you don’t understand yourself? Tossing and turning, unable to move, with a pain that felt like someone had a hold of a car key and repeatedly stabbing my with it with some force. I was crying, . . . and my mam, in tears. We didn’t know what to do!
. . . it was only later than I figured this out about the human body, and little did I know, the answer would come soon.
. . . I was on a late shift at Pure Gym, Sunderland, and watching, in segments, a 4 hour and some change, documentary around the NHS’s fallacy, their mistakes, their survivors; and around nutrition. This particulary documentary had doctors from different fields talk about the medical profession in its’ entirety, and different types of nutrtional approaches were mentioned. It turns out one of the doctors who claimed to have about 5-6 PhD’s, and may be one ‘MD’, was found guilty of malpractice, and I think, falsifying his credentials, and imprisoned. But there was one doctor on their that seemed to make the most sense, so I looked him up, and there was the beginning of the nutritional gold mine down “the rabbit hole”.
. . . In so much pain, I needed to take action regardless of how much it hurt. And I cannot recall whether it was the day after, or two days after that night of excruciating pain, that I somehow managed to drive my sorry ass to the acupuncture place in the 'Yellow Mall’ within the Metro Centre located in Gateshead. And it was there where I found one of the answers I was looking for, which was ‘Can anybody actually help me?!’. Their answer was (to my great delight) a resounding ‘YES’. Now, I understand, depending on a person’s experience, they will tell you acupuncture works, or doesn’t work. I have spoken to people whom have said it does, and to people whom have said it doesn’t. It depends on how good the practitioners are, their experience, and a number of other factors. For me it worked!
. . . One of the first videos I looked up that this Naturopathic doctor posted on his YouTube channel, was a webinar on ‘The 10 Bad Foods’. Since then it has been updated to ‘The 12 Bad Foods’. And it was from that video that I began to see more of the truth about nutrition that I was looking for. It’s worth noting that at this time I was so open minded that I was open to trying anything. Being this receptive had led to me trying going fully vegan for a full twenty-four hours! It didn’t work for me though. I was looking at all of the different types of diets and nutritional advice,. . . and it led to that documentary.
. . . After I had the “firey-cup thing’ done, followed by 30-minutes of acupuncture (with meditation as I lay there), I said a massive ‘thank you!’ to them and left. And as I walked away, although the pain had reduced noticably, every two steps I took the pain in my chest felt like a thud (buddum, …one, two…buddum…). It still hurt. But now that I was able to think a little bit more clearly due to the reduced pain, I was able to come up with what could be, a potential solution.
Combined wih eliminating gluten and most of the dairy in my diet for two-to-three weeks, the acupuncture and the ‘firey cup’ really helped!
Notice, that this took a lifestyle change with a wholistic medical approach to help me? Thus was born my first understanding of ‘how’ the elimination diet method actually worked. Sometimes you need to test these things yourself. Pain was a major driver for me, but I don’t want you to experience that much pain; I don’t want you to be bed-bound or have excruciating pain, before you do this, I want you to be smarter than I was, can you do that for me? Please?
Nobody should have to go through that much pain before they realise what they have to do to correct the problem.
Although it was a learning experience, I wish I could go back and tell the 21-year old Bradley ‘you don;t have to experience the pain you’re about to experience’. . . Although, I’m not sure if he’d listen prior to it happening.
. . . That was m whole experience, and it did teach me more about my body’s tolerances, and ignited a drive in me that I had never known!
Thank you so muvh for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read through this, it is greatly appreciated.
And, if yo foundit interesting, or if it helped you, or you think it would help a family member or friend, please share it, and let’s help them.
Thanks so much!
Brad
