CORE EXERCISES
LOOK PAST THE NONSENSE
Hi everyone!
Today, I wanted to give you guys some core exercises, because I think people are still craving CORE, so let’s dive straight in . . .
The Core, comprises of multiple muscle groups that work cohesively together:
a) Abdominals
b) Obliques
c) Lower- and Mid-Back
d) Serratus Major (Muscles leading from obliques to underneath the arms)
e) Upper Glutes
f) Diaphragm and Intercostal Muscles
g) Internal Obliques
To target all of these muscle groups effectively, you need first and foremost, compound exercise, such as your barbell lifts; and you need other exercises that target the core specifically.
This nonsense about “core activation exercises”, forgive my French, is absolute shit. Your core is activating every time your perform most exercises.
And with that out the way, let’s take a look at some of these exercises:
Exercise | Muscle Groups |
---|---|
Barbell Squat | Lower Back, Obliques, Glutes, Diaphragm |
Weighted Overhead Lunge | Lower Back, Glutes, Obliques, Diaphragm, Abdominals |
Banded Pallof Press | Glutes, Lower Back, Diaphragm |
Hollow Hold | Abdominals, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles |
Crunches | Abdominals, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles |
Barbell Deadlift | Lower Back, Obliques, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles |
Dumbbell Shoulder Press | Lower Back, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles, Serratus Major, Obliques |
Cable Wood-Chop | Serratus Major, Obliques, Lower Back, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles |
Handstand Hold | Obliques, Lower Back, Serratus Major, Diaphragm, Intercostal Muscles, Internal Obliques |
Thanks for reading guys, I appreciate your support!
